Weekend Fun: Backcountry Skiing

January 27, 2010

I had the opportunity to get out into some powder this weekend with Brian and Aaron, two NOLS coworkers and friends. We drove up to Togwotee Pass (near Dubois, Wyoming) and skied West Angle Mountain. There were avalanche warnings due to the foot of snow that had fallen in the last two days, but we took every precaution and had an amazing day of skiing.

That was a fun video and looked like an incredible day! Do you get a chance to get out very often? I know I have been trying to hit the Front Range of Colorado but the snow has been pretty poor until hopefully now with the snow that came in over the weekend. I have yet to get out and check it out since, with Vail being so good. However, once again lift lines reminding me why I enjoy the backcountry as much as I do. Well I thought I would leave you a post and let you know we are throwing a video contest at All Mountain Access, http://www.myallmountainaccess.com. We are accepting videos of pretty much anything outdoor oriented that can be formatted into a 5 minute video. We are teaming up with some other companies in the skiing and outdoor industry. You can find more details on our Facebook page. If you get the opportunity check us out once again at http://www.myallmountainaccess.com, and videos for entry can be sent to david@myallmountainaccess.com, we will be throwing a party and showing them all.

I don’t get into the backcountry that often. I have spent most of my time here in Wyoming skiing at Jackson Hole or Targhee. The avi conditions this year have put backcountry plans on hold. I will let my video friends know about the contest. :) Cheers and thanks for your post!
